NED DOWMAN HIGH SCHOOL

Today we went to NED DOWMAN HIGH SCHOOL to go and speak to the kids about MANHOOD,LEADERSHIP and the importances about school.At first the principle tried to get there attensoin but they were so rude and it was like there were no teacher in the room and suddenly there was a fight between 2 students and then all the boys went crazy and I thought that this kids will never listen to us but I were wrong we were split into classes and we told our experiences of prison and where we made mistakes and to my surprise the kids did not even give us one problem they were so interested in what we had to say that and they did not even see the principle or the teachers come into the class then I saw that they need to here things from people on there level that know what life is like in the community where they come from.Then we went for a break and some students came to us and ask if we are coming to there classes and some teachers told us that they were impressed by the way the kids was paying attention to us and I could see that the teachers were very happy to see the students paying attention to us and that made me smile to see a teacher so happy because a teacher have allot of stress when they go home but today they can go home and tell someone about today in a positive way and even the principal and teachers could not thank us enough.   by; BRADLEY SLINGERS

  

CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Today’s workshop was about  how to avoid conflict in the situations that we go through every with family or strangers,Sometimes you cant help it but to express your feelings  in a unnecessary way.So today we went through some points and views on how to deal with these kind of situation.

• use common sense
• let the other know that you care
• choose an isolated place to talk to
• don’t argue
• look at the body language
• the tone of voice that you use
• treat other’s the way you also want to be treated
• don’t make the conflict worse by…

1. grabbing the person who is angry or who is causing the conflict

   2.   win his/her trust

CONFLICT RESOLUTION

I was blessed today as to attend this wonderful workshop, I think Hailey and Lauren did a great job in terms of coming up with the above topic. Cause many of the youth lack such skills, I myself was one of the people that lacked these skills. As a result I use to solve conflicts with violent meaning my way of stopping fire was not a fire extinguisher , but fire in itself , and that’s one of the things that contributed in making my life a misery.

For another person it may be a wise thing to correct a fool with a fist, but remember it is not guaranteed that you’ll come out of that fight a winner, so the following are the eight steps in conflict resolution:

1:Use common sense

2:Let the other person know you care!

3:Choose a good place to talk

4:Don’t argue!!!

5:Look at body language

6:Tone of voice

7:Treat others the way you want to be treated!

8:Avoid making conflict worse!

What I Learned About Conflict Resolution

To day i learned that if someone try to do something bad 2 u just ignore him,walk away from the problem or try to solve a problem by using a comon sense,let the other person know u , choose a good place to talk, don’t argue,look at th body language,tone of voice and treat others the way you want to be treated.

        to day in young in prison & i have a great way to save my self from the daily base difficulties that we face as the youth due to conflict resolving as to the ideal way to solve this its to use these steps always  use common sense , let the other person that u care & always find the correct place to resolve the problem do not ague & first look @ the body language & the tone of voice remember do to others what u want to to be done to u its all about showing that you do try to make the world better place because the best of your ability can make it a better place if we all work together positively with out any doubts about making this world a better place it will never make u a good person to

Today I watch a documentery about gender base violence called A way To Justice  and that made me think what about man that are also going threw the same situation like woman.I know its wrong to hit woman or abuse them so whether your a man,woman or child don’t abuse people because you don’t want to be abused so think before you act.                                   By:BRADLEY
